Instant Hypnosis

Instant hypnosis techniques are extremely useful in many settings. They should not be restricted to the stage because they work so well in other situations. Have you ever been at a party and someone finds out that you do hypnosis, and that person says something like, "Show me something"? As someone who is accomplished instant hypnosis, you will have many ways to answer this question. In Instant hypnosis you will learn how to do really good suggestibility testing, quick inductions and demonstrations. As one might imagine, a slow, progressive relaxation induction will not answer the mail in this sort of challenge situation.

But first, I want to talk about safety in instant hypnosis because this is very important. Instant hypnosis involves instant and rapid inductions and many of these are shock inductions which can be dangerous if they're not done properly. So the first thing you want to do with anyone that you do a instant hypnosis on, is determine is if that person has any neck or arm problems, any neck or arm problems that could be exacerbated by doing instant hypnosis. Most of these instant hypnosis inductions will involve a sudden movement or sudden sound. It could be an arm pull induction where you will just jerk the arm very quickly which could injure the subject who has an elbow problem, shoulder problem or neck problem. I once worked with a client who was a very type-A personality, and just didn't think she could go into hypnosis, and to tell you the truth, I was kind of wondering myself. And so, I thought, "Well, I'll just use an instant hypnosis induction on her." But when I asked if she had any shoulder or elbow or wrist problems or any neck problems she said, "Yes, I did have that operation where they fused three of my vertebrae on my neck together," so obviously she wasn't a good candidate for an instant hypnosis induction. She had that operation where they cut you through the front of your neck and open you up like a Pez dispenser. Then they go in and fuse some of your vertebrae together. Obviously instant hypnosis inductions would be dangerous for her because there's often a natural tendency for the head to go forward.

Also sometimes after instant hypnosis you'll see me doing that head roll deepener, and that would have been really, really bad. So I asked the question, I found out that, she was not a good candidate for that so I didn't use that on her. I used something else. I did instant hypnosis on her using a confusion. So always, always check if there are any preexisting conditions that will preclude an instant hypnosis induction.
